The Newtown Dog Park is located inside Newtown Park towards the front entrance, in Johns Creek. This is a place where you can take your pooch to have a good time. The place is dog friendly and one of the best places for dogs in the country.

The place is a nice open space of 1 acre, which is all fenced up, with separate spaces for big and small dogs.

The place has an artificial turf adding to quality to the play area. There is toy fire hydrant with sprinklers all around, which act as though the fire hydrant is trying to get even with the dogs. For the obstacle course, the park has bridges, hoops and tunnels, with park benches so that you can sit around and socialize with other dog owners while your dog sniffs and plays around.

There is also a shelter where you and your pooch can take shelter after some tiresome play. You will also find drinking water stations for people and even dogs. There is also a facility for you to walk your dog along the dog trail.

The place received a $500000 maker-over after John Creek resident Pat McNeely and Koda, his pooch, won a dog food contest, the proceeds of which was given to Newtown Dog Park.

The park is open from 8am to 9pm. The park authorities notify the park users that the park is to be used at their own risk and they are not to be held responsible for your dog or for injuries inflicted by your dog. All the dogs need to have a collar with a valid license and documented vaccinations as certified by the law. It is mandatory here that you clean up after your dog using the dog waste bags provided. Cats are strictly not allowed at this park.
